swine flu...

i just found out that my old high school has been shut down for the week because a kid in yr 11 has been affirmed to have the human swine flu.
alot of my close friends go to that school,
and while theyre happy to get out of exam block and have a three week holiday...
it brings the whole thing alot closer to home
im starting to get a little worried about it :S
hope no-one i know gets it...or even just anyone
i hope no-one else gets it ever. haha

yes, i do believe that today IS going to be a good day :)
yesterday was ALSO a good day. i went to see steph's theatre IP (which was great btw! even if it did have a confusing ending, which was actually a mistake lol)
we drove hannah and adeline home, and got dinner on the way to their place
it was rather funny!

QUT was also pretty good, we have FINALLY gotten to the Dada movement! i think soon i will do a post with my favourite works from the movements! there are some really awesome ones.

now...who wants to go make a sound poem with me?? any takers?? any??

today was a pretty good day as far as days go. i had QUT with soph, which always provides much entertainment (we finally discovered friend 3's name)
the only down side was that i have had a sore throat all day, and now my nose is running and my head is abit sore.
fingers crossed i dont get the flu...it is influenza season after all, eep.

i think i enjoyed today?
pretty sure i did? i can't tell.
i guess it wasnt super great, but it nothing bad happened either.
so...mediocre i guess? soo indecisive at the moment haha
not particularly looking forward to the next term, but maybe it will surprise me and be super fun and school will be a breeze
a girl can dream...

i had a sort of epiphany last night. i was looking at a good friends images on myspace and i just thought...
'you are going to be a star one day' (hence the new blog title!)
and i have no doubt that she will be. i hope we stay friends.

this was my sixth woodford folk festival and it was a ripper!
i saw some great bands, met some great people and danced so much that my feet are still sore!

my highlights for this year would probably be melodics and the kin (whom i also saw last year) and the lead singer of the melodics and the brothers from the kin are cousins! and have the same manager, who is their uncle! except their uncle is like the same age as them.
i got to meet the kin, which was awesome! and taught their manager how to dance to yodelling haha it was very fun

there were so many hilarious moments throughout the week, as i spent it with some pretty hilarious people (sophie, sophia, eloise, hannah p, hannah w) including when we snuch drinks into the festival by holding the bottles between our legs under our dresses (well that was alarming hahaha) and when sophia snuck some in by putting vodka in a zip lock bag and hiding it in her pants, however it spilt and hahaha it was so funny!
i also learnt that eloise always takes jokes that one step too far!! which is great for making the original joke even funnier. eg:

h: 'i got so tanned, i was like aboriginal'
j: 'haha be funny if you came to school and your skin was black and you were like i got really burnt on the weekend!'
e: 'hahhahaha yea and then someone comes up to you and says hey you got a really bad fake tan, but its not even fake tan, its just black paint'

ok it may not seem that funny just reading it but it was THE funnies thing i have ever heard her say!
i love woodford! it is so amazing and i cant wait for the next one!

i, jessica margaret brain, am proud to admit that i love christmas.
i love spending time with my family and playing games and seeing everyone happy and together. i know that not everyone shares in my absolute adoration of this time of year, but i just hope that maybe i can rub off on them a little and spread the love!
tomorrow i will be leaving to go to esk and have christmas eve/day with my dad and his family, so i wanted to wish everyone a very merry christmas, and (if i dont get to post before then) an even better New Years!

i have some traditions that i participate in every year at christmas time. number one is seeing the christmas lights in my local area, i did that tonight with mum, martin, peter, kynnan, maddy and georgie (last 3 are peters kids, they're nice!). the cleveland uniting church was by far the winner and they even had live music (strings playing christmas carols!!)
the second tradition is that every year, at christmas time, i watch a taped-off-tv copy of 'The Muppets Christmas Carol'. It is my absolute FAVOURITE christmas movie and i still giggle at all the funny parts and sing along to all the songs!

update on mr. rubber band ball

well i promised to post a photo of the new and improved rubber band ball, so here it is...

so, im pretty sure you can see what i mean now about the colour layers and about how BIG its gotten :)
i am so proud!
and the one rule with rubber band balls is that you'r not allowed to BUY the rubber bands, you have to find them! so that makes it even more impressive i think!
i just googled 'world's biggest rubber band ball' and oh my godd! it is HUGE!! check it out...

that dude on top will be me one day, except obviously not a guy and a bigger rubber band ball so i can beat his record 6-foot tall (as tall as me :0 ) sphere!
last year, when i first started making the rubber band ball, clare/rosie planned a surprise for me and made a trail of rubber band to my locker! it was so good because i 'found them' and didnt buy them or anything! that was also around the time of secret santa last year in k block hahaha and that reminds me of when clare and i filled emma's locker with seed pods because she said i was a bad secret santa! that was so funny haha!!

the last few days i have been up on the sunshine coast, and yes i can now remember that it is up and not down! i stayed with one of my best friends, hannah, yesterday and today and we had lots of fun beaching it up and eating icecreams and trying to drown each other in the river (i won!). its been great to spend some good ol' quality time with her, because i hardly get to see her anymore, and as we were chatting about life and such, a thought hit me...it would be so so amazing if we lived near each other on the coast. we could see each other whenever we wanted, become pretty much permanent residents at each others houses, go to the beach together almost everyday...we could do the things most friends get to do everyday. it made me so happy to think of that, but then sad because its not going to happen anytime soon...so that was the end of that smile haha :) but another one came back pretty soon after as i convinced her to buy me an icecream!

i know i havent been the best blogger of late, but i have just been hit by the blog fairy. literally, he (yes its a he) just came up and HIT ME...right in the...erm...BICEP. yes right in the bicep. and whilst it hurt quite abit (it was obvious he worked out...meoooww ;)) his abuse has inspired me to give mr bloggy some much needed attention. so prepare to be thwarted with blogs (haha wonder how long it will last!)

well i must leave now and write my next blog, which will probably be posted in about half an hour, maybe more, who knows....only the blog fairy knows....mwaahhahaha
